Today, due to the rapid realization of scientific, technological and cultural changes, individuals need to develop their knowledge and skills at every stage of their lives.
In 1972, the UNESCO Education Development Commission defined changing education as a lifelong activity. Thus, the concept of "Lifelong Learning" emerged. The Eastern Mediterranean University Continuing Education Center (EMU-CEC) was established in 2004 with an understanding of lifelong education and realises its activities in line with this mission.
Parallel to this, EMU-CEC believes that educational activities should not only be targeted towards those within the campus boundaries. Therefore, our center offers long and short-term courses, seminars, and conferences on various topics to cater for the lifelong educational needs of all segments of the society.
With an educational experience of 40 years, its multi-national human resources and the support of international accreditation, EMU-CEC is the only institution in the TRNC that is a member of the Council for the Continuing Education Centers in Turkey (TÜSEM) and the European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN ).
In addition to organizing training programs and activities aimed at providing individual and professional development, our Center also offers services for university students and professionals to help them prepare and participate in internationally-recognised examinations. EMU-CEC is an authorised TOEFL-IBT and TOLES center and offers preparatory courses for those who wish to attend such examinations throughout the year.
Our center, which has the ISO 9001 certificate, has completed its institutionalization process and is run in accordance with the principles of accountability and transparency. Having contributed to the realisation of the life-long learning targets of around 40,000 individuals to date, EMU-CEC is fully committed to serve the Turkish Cypriot Community through updating and developing its infrastructure.
There is still a lot to learn!
