From Village Institutes to Continuing Education Centers

In the current digital age, the need for quality and sustainable educational activities is increasing day by day. EMU-CEC's educational activities reach more and more people every day in order to keep up with the changing and developing business and living conditions. When we look at the past decades, it becomes clear how valuable lifelong education was in people's lives. In the past, the lifelong education needs of the society were met through village institutes. Today these institutions have been replaced by EMU-CEC with its staff consisting of more modern, qualified and professional educators.

Lifelong Education

The view claiming that people continue to learn throughout their lives is not new. Changes in daily life, one's career, science and technology are so rapid that knowledge and skills must be constantly renewed and developed. In addition to the importance of adapting to life and being a qualified individual, it is very significant that learning continues throughout life without being limited to a certain period or place (i.e. such as schools, universities) in lifelong learning (Koç, 2005).

Lifelong learning offers the opportunity of an open school to all segments of the society. Moving away from being accessible only to a certain age group and offering limited learning activities, it is seen as an option enriching the community life and enabling individuals to increase their potential (Demirel, 2003).

EMU-CEC Boasts International Memberships

With the support of EMU's high quality education, international faculty members and international acceditations, EMU-CEC is the only institution in Cyprus which has membership in the European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN), and in Turkish Universities Continuing Education Centers Council (TÜSEM). The center has the authority to apply internationally recognised exams (e.g. TOEFL-IBT, TOLES) and offers exam preparation  courses for those wishing to take such exams throughout the year. EMU-CEC, which also holds the ISO: 9001 certificate, a quality management certificate for its institutionalization, is managed with an approach of a transparent, accountable and fair administration.

We will be very pleased and proud to see you as part of the EMU-CEC family. You can consult us for all your educational needs. Do not make a decision without seeing our offers for seminars, in-service trainings and courses.

Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Metin ERSOY
